About
10 TIL 2 - 10
TIL 2 has grown over the last 10+ years performing in
the San Francisco Bay Area and abroad. Now a 3 piece
band, 10 TIL 2 brings a collection of 70's, 80's, 90's
and the latest songs out in true rock fashion.
10 TIL 2 was launched in the
summer of 1998 by yours truly Scott Kusayanagi and my
Dad, Gordon. Yeah, my Dad. I know, I know... 22 year
age gap but it worked. It worked very well. Think about
it... all of today's current rock with all of the classic
rock of yester year... it was a blast. Somehow and somewhere
along the line we actually morphed from a garage band
into a real rock cover band with every detail covered.
Just like any band we went through changes. Originally
we had some old friends playing with us, James Myrick
on Drums and Patrick Murray on Bass. One thing is true
in music and that is people and situations change. Patrick
needed some time off and Jeff Payne stepped on in. James
needed some time off and Scott Dinn stepped on in. The
band continued on and we delivered to our fans that
were following us from Monterey to San Jose.
This new lineup was amazing. Scott was a cover band
veteran and instructor. Jeff added a whole new level
of playing ability to the band. A classically trained
musician with degree's from the University of Iowa and
North Texas made us the best at what we did. Oh yeah,
he could sing too. So now with our strong 3 part harmonies
blowing away the San Jose club circut nothing could
stop us. Wrong.
On September 21st, 2005 this band suffered the biggest
blow we ever could face. That Wednesday afternoon a
man drove his car onto the Las Vegas strip sidewalk
and mowed down 13 people, killing 3 and injuring the
others. One of the three dead was our Guitarist and
my Dad, Gordon. From a band aspect how could we ever
go on? How could we ever replace a founding member?
Gordon was the glue that always held 10 TIL 2 together.
From a personal standpoint, that was my Dad. We were
side by side for the past seven years onstage. What
do I do now?
I call Jeff and Scott that next day and we ask our good
friend and guitar virtuoso Mike Craig to honor the memory
of Gordon and take his spot onstage. Fortunately for
10 TIL 2 Mike agrees and we play our comeback show 2
months later to the day. Mike continues with the band
from this point on as we all grow closer as friends
and start to really make a "show" out of each
performance.
In the fall of 2009 Scott Dinn
the bands drummer for the past 3-4 years decides to
pursue other projects. The timing worked out as one
of the best drummers in the bay area Don Frank came
into the picture. Don's played with just about everyone,
and very well known in the drum world. Don also plays
with GravyBoat another well established band here in
the bay area and works for Gelb Music in Redwood City.
Today we continue on, never
stopping, and always having fun. We've had some great
experiences over the last 10 years from playing huge
venues like Mt. View's Shoreline to local packed clubs.
We were able to support numerous community projects,
special events, and more. And the music keeps playing....

Kusayanagi
About me? Not much to tell.
I was born in SJ and grew up in Gilroy. No formal training,
a few lessons here and there, but mostly me listening
to records is how I got started in playing. I started
with drums first at around 5 or so. Then piano and guitar
at 9 and 10. Some time in high school someone told me I
could sing and I actually believed them.
So here I am. A founder and frontman of 10 TIL 2. I
enjoy my time out there with the guys and our fans!!!

I always loved guitar even before
I knew how to play. I studied guitar with Sydney Gelb
and Tony Baker and work for the well known music store,
"Gelb Music" located here in the Bay Area.
People like Joe Satriani, Robin Ford, Steve Morse, and
many other top musicians walking through the door...
exposure to the scene came early. I founded the hard
rock band "Jaded Rain" in the 90's which did
well, radio play, MTV video and co-wrote two NCSA award
winning songs. I've played in numerous original projects
with the latest being 'LoveKraft'. The joy for me now
is playing music, playing guitar, and playing live with
the guys in the band and the great fans of 10 TIL 2.
See ya at the show.
Don
Frank
Music has always been a part
of Don’s life. From an early age he would hit
the furniture, kick the back of chairs and listen to
the Beatles on his close and play turntable. After taking
over his brother’s drum set at age five, Don went
on to play in his school Jazz, Orchestra, and Marching
band. He formed his first rock band in junior high and
has played with many diverse and talented artists over
the years including: playing a drum duet with Ed Shaughnessy
(The Tonight Show), receiving a gold record for studio
work on The Doobie Brothers album "Cycles,"
and playing live and on recordings with Ronnie Montrose
and Marc Bonilla. Mr. Frank enjoys spending time with
his wife Eva and kids, writing, recording, and producing
music in his studio, and rockin’ the room.
Jeff Payne
Jeff Payne had his formal musical education at the University of Iowa and the University of North Texas where he studied trumpet performance on scholarship with David Greenhoe and music composition. He took up the bass as a side instrument and found it came very easy to him and allowed him to express his love of the pocket in a new way. He would put it all into practice four sets a night gigging with various local bands throughout Texas and the Southwest. As a bassist and singer, he worked with an extensive array of performers including Matt Chamberlain (Saturday Night Live, Tori Amos) and John Gaither. I think that almost every genre of music has something that makes it compelling to the listener. It’s just a matter of finding the chewy center and digging into it. I’ve always made it a point to find that center and enjoy it, consume it and get dirty with it.
Jeff is currently endorsed by Lakland Basses and uses Aguilar Amplification.
